Mills Little League: Welcome

Friday, December 28

To all Mills and Rancho Cordova LL Players and Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2008 Little League Baseball Season!! In the best interest of the Players, the Parents, and the Community, Mills LL and Rancho Cordova LL have decided to join forces and become ONE; Rancho Cordova Little League! The Board Members for both leagues are very excited about this decision and are looking forward to a POSITIVE, FUN, and COMPETITIVE 2008 Little League Season!!

With this decision, comes some change(s). District 5 and Little League Headquarters have decided to change the Mills/Rancho LL boundaries. Families living within the Lincoln Village area from Old Placerville Rd. to Folsom, west of Routier are now a part of Rosemont LL (www.Rosemontbaseball.com); however, players returning to a Mills Major or Junior team (player that played with Mills LL during the 2007 season) will be given the option to play for the new Rancho Cordova LL on a waiver. If any family has a question as to what league they should be playing for, please e-mail Meredith@icscm.com (Meredith Collins, President of Mills LL), Dennis@4edg.com (Dennis Lamantia, President of Rancho Cordova LL), or come to the next scheduled sign-ups which are scheduled for:

Also, Rancho LL is piloting a new Volunteer program for the 2008 season. This program is to promote volunteerism, or provide funds for the league to pay others (typically local youths) to assist in the many areas necessary to run the league. This program asks each family to deposit $50, in addition to the annual registration fee, at the time of registration (families with multiple children in the league only deposit a total of $50, not $50 per child). If the family performs 6 hours of volunteer work during the season, the $50 will be refunded. If the family performs less than 6 hours of volunteer work, a pro-rata share of the $50 will be refunded. Activities that will qualify for the refund are those critical to operating the league. These include snack shack duty, umpiring games, scorekeeping, and field maintenance. For those who are not able to volunteer, we will utilize the deposited funds to pay for those tasks for which we need help. This may include paying for umpires, kids to work in the snack shack, and scorekeepers. Please go to www.rcll.org for more information.

As a new league, the Board Members of Rancho Cordova LL are going to work diligently to make this transition as smooth as possible for all involved. Please feel free to e-mail Meredith or Dennis (e-mail addresses above) with questions, concerns, comments, and/or suggestions. Thank you for your continued patience and let’s have a great 2008 SEASON!
